Our 9 Steps to Justice
Everything The Leprosy Mission does to bring healing & justice to people affected by leprosy forms part of these 9 steps to justice
Depending on local and individual needs the different steps are delivered differently, or may not be needed at all. It will be a very rare person who directly needs support covering all 9 steps.
The 9 steps fall neatly into 3 groups by which the mission combat the medical aspects of leprosy, the disability that can result from it and its consequences in the wider community.
We are often asked how much it costs to provide healing & justice to someone affected by leprosy. In many ways this is an impossible question to answer because the types of care and support needed and the cost of doing so varies so much from country to country and individual to individual.
However our friends in Canada attempted to answer this question by looking at the average cost in different countries of delivering an average range of services to an average person. To cure and care for someone affected by leprosy costs on average £145, or £12 per month – just 40p a day!
