On Eagles Wings - Eddie Askew (28 September 07)

Everyone associated with The Leprosy Mission around the world was saddened to hear that Eddie Askew has died. TLMI's Vice President and former General Director died peacefully on September 27th following 2 strokes.

Eddie was known, admired and loved by a wide range of people both within TLM and outside. He was perhaps most widely known for his books and paintings and not a week goes by without someone coming to a stall looking for a book of his devotions that they haven't read before.

The following message came from his daughters.

"We found a poem he had written after Mum died about a dove that had flown into their french windows and died. It ended

Perhaps the dove has gone ahead
and now he flies in some celestial kingdom,
on stronger wings, flying with God,
flying and rejoicing with God.
I await my eagles's wings.

So Dad is flying at last with God and his beloved Barbara"

All who knew him in person or simply through the pages of a book will miss him.
