World Leprosy Day 2007 - Pack Now Available (17 Nov 06)
January 28 2007 is World Leprosy Day. Every year on the last Sunday in January people around the world focus on the plight of those affected by leprosy. Communities, churches, families and individuals take time to remind themselves of the truth about this disease. That it is completely curable and yet every day 1100 new cases are diagnosed around the world. That it need not have any long lasting effects and yet there are millions of people living with permanent disability as a result of leprosy.
This January will you join us in marking World Leprosy Day and perhaps think about what you can do to give hope to people around the world and help to make a world without leprosy a reality? On the day itself or in the week leading up to it will your church, school, family or community spend some time reminding yourselves of what leprosy really means to so many people around the world?
Alternatively, why not get your local paper to cover it, especially if local people are doing something specific to mark the day? Why not organise a fundraising event like a pot luck lunch or have a TLMS stall after your church service (contact Anne in the office to arrange this)? The possibilities are only limited by your imagination. In addition to the WLD Resource Pack we have other resources available to help you with any fundraising activities.
