TLMS Around The Country
Area Co-ordinators
Our two Area Co-ordinators, Stuart and Jim, travel the length and breadth of the country speaking to groups, assisting volunteers and helping local fundraisers. Stuart covers South and Central Scotland, Jim the North and the Islands.
Ably assisted by our team of trained volunteer speakers, one of their main priorities is going out and speaking to individuals and groups about leprosy and the work of TLM, explaining what we do and where we do it, dispelling some of the myths that still surround leprosy and hopefully encouraging people to get involved in one way or another. If you would like to arrange for someone to come to speak to your group, whoever they are, get in touch. (If you're not sure which area you are in, as a rough guide, the boundary on the east coast is between Carnoustie and Arbroath, on the west coast it's the Ballachulish Bridge.)
Either Stuart or Jim would be happy to talk to you about any other aspect of the work of TLMS in your area or help you out with any fundraising or other TLMS activities you are planning.
Area Committees
Area Committees are groups of volunteers who promote the work of TLMS in their local communities. They organise awareness raising and fundraising events locally. There are currently area committees in
- Aberdeen
- Cupar
- Dundee
- Edinburgh
- Forfar
- Inverness
- Penicuik
- Stirling
Some committees organise a regular series of meetings, details of which are available from the committee, others arrange special concerts and other events most of which should be listed on the TLMS Events List. Why not go along to an event near you, find out more about TLM, support our work around the world and hopefully have some fun at the same time.
Committees are always looking for new people to help them in promoting the work of TLMS. If this is something you could do contact the office and we'll put you in touch with the relevant people.
Or if you live in an area that doesn't have a committee, why not get together a few TLM supporters and start one? It needn't be a formal commitment, perhaps start by organising an event and see how you get on. Stuart, Jim or Stanley will help you out with whatever you need.
Events
TLMS participates in a wide range of events around the country, some of these are arranged by TLMS others are larger events in which we are invited to take part. Find out where and when you’ll be able to meet some of our staff or volunteers, buy some of our fair trade goods or even contribute to the ongoing work of TLM around the world in our diary of upcoming events.
