Teaching Packs - Sunday School
The programme is made up of 6 lesson plans, containing activities and Bible stories, with options for older and younger children. We planned this for use in the period between Epiphany and the beginning of Lent, as World Leprosy Sunday is always the last Sunday in January, but the material is not tied to this time period, so could be used at any time of year.
Some of the materials may be unsuitable for your group(s) due to facilities, numbers etc, please pick from the suggestions those options which best fit your particular group and circumstances. We hope that there is more material than you will need each week in order to allow you to choose what best suits your situation. We would be delighted to receive your feedback about the packs, to hear about how your group has got on with the programme, and to get your ideas as to how the pack can be improved. Lesson Contents
Weeks 1-5 contain a Bible story with quiz or other activity to help children remember the story, plus memory verse, and a variety of activities designed to help children understand the plight of leprosy patients and to get involved in helping them. The stories are laid out in the pack in a way that they can be read to the children as they stand. Please use your Bible if you prefer to do that. Week 6 is designed as a chance to have a sponsored fundraising event, and activities are provided to keep children entertained, and to look back over things learnt during the previous 5 weeks. Most weeks have activity worksheets which you can photocopy as often as you need for your class as well as Real Life Materials which will enable you to illustrate different aspects of leprosy to your class.
