Your gift can make a real difference to someone whose leprosy requires treatment in hospital.

Medicines
Patients with leprosy often need treatment for other complications, such as a reaction to multidrug therapy, the cure for leprosy. In order to promote inclusion and combat stigma, we also treat general patients for other illnesses. Your gift of medicines will be invaluable to someone in real need.

Food for Patient
Leprosy is a disease of paverty; people with a poor diet are much more susceptible to the disease because their immune systems aren't robust enough to resist. An important part of a patient's recovery is ensuring that they get substantial, nourishing meals every day.

Eye Surgery
Most people don't know that leprosy can have a devastating effect on the eye. Leprosy patients often develop cataracts or lagopthalmos, an inability to blink, which can both lead to blindness if left untreated. Simple surgery can restore someone's sight.

Nurse's Salary
The Leprosy Mission's hospitals have an excellent reputation for leprosy and general treatment, and our nurses work long hours in often difficult conditions. Government and private hospitals usually pay higher salaries than we are able to, so our staff really are motivated by loving care for those most in need.
