Successful Conference Held In StirlingOn Saturday May 8th The Leprosy Mission Scotland heldit's Annual Conference in Stirling. This was the first conference and AGM to take place since the change to become a company limited by guarantee last year, so the format of the day changed a little to reflect this. The keynote speaker of the conference was Geoff Warne, the General Director of The Leprosy Mission International who speak about some of the challenges facing the mission around the world and the development of a new Global Partnership between the different parts of The Leprosy Mission in all of the different countries where it operates. What could have been quite a dry topic was brought to life using the stories of people and communities that Geoff has met on his travels around the mission and how the challenges and opportunities ahead of us all will have an impact on the ways that the mission is able to bring healing and justice to people affected by leprosy. Margaret Tooth of Blythswood Care led a workshop and discussion on how fundraising activities organised at local levels around the country could maximise their effectiveness and we hope that people will take some of these away with them. Stanley is bracing himself for an influx of requests for help and resources for all of these new fundraising initiatives.
