Local MSP Celebrates Volunteering

On Thursday June 4th, Bruce Crawford MSP joined with The Leprosy Mission Scotland to celebrate the achievements of our volunteers. As part of National Volunteers' Week Bruce presented certificates to 10 volunteers who give their time here in Stirling.

National Volunteers' Week, now in its 25th year, is a national celebration of volunteers and volunteering which takes place in the first week in June each year. It plays a huge part in raising the profile of the millions of volunteers who make an invaluable contribution throughout the year, while encouraging others to get involved.

Speaking at the event, Bruce Crawford said it was wonderful to meet such committed people who give so generously of their time and efforts to support some of the neediest people in the world.

"Volunteers are an essential part of the team at The Leprosy Mission Scotland, where they are involved both in Stirling and nationwide in many different roles" says Jill Bain, Volunteer Manager. "They bring huge enthusiasm, a wide variety of skills and great commitment to what they do. Their contribution is essential if we are to achieve our goal of 'a world without leprosy.' "
