ABOUT ABOUT TLMS WORK WE SUPPORT REAL LIVES ABOUT LEPROSY

A Global Mission

Support raised in Scotland is used right around the world on a huge range of different projects each facing different challenges.

This interactive map will allow you to explore where leprosy is found today as well as where TLM is working, and what it's doing there to combat leprosy.

Where Scottish Support Goes

The Leprosy Mission Scotland supports a variety of projects providing care and cure to leprosy affected people all over the world.  Below, you will find examples of some of the projects supported from Scotland recently.

Chanchaga Orthopaedic Workshop, Nigeria

The orthopaedic workshop at Chanchaga in Nigeria was supported by the Church of Scotland Guild for 3 years, from 2006 - 2009, and we have kept up contact with the staff there since then and have continued to support them every year. The workshop provides support to those disabled by leprosy across much of Nigeria. The support provided can be as simple as pair of well fitting shoes to protect numbed feet. Crutches, wheelchairs and artificial limbs are also produced at the workshop to support those with more severe disabilities.

The support provided by the workshop enables people disabled by leprosy to live with greater mobility and independence. Empowering people to take control of their lives and restoring their place in their families and communities is a key result of the work done at Chanchaga.
