ABOUT ABOUT TLMS WORK WE SUPPORT REAL LIVES ABOUT LEPROSY

A Global Mission

Support raised in Scotland is used right around the world on a huge range of different projects each facing different challenges.

This interactive map will allow you to explore where leprosy is found today as well as where TLM is working, and what it's doing there to combat leprosy.

Where Scottish Support Goes

The Leprosy Mission Scotland supports a variety of projects providing care and cure to leprosy affected people all over the world.  Below, you will find examples of some of the projects supported from Scotland recently.

Bankura Vocational Training Centre, India

Bankura Vocational Training Centre was set up in 1998.  Since it started, more than 608 students have graduated in eight different trades, including: carpentry, IT, tailoring, and mechanics.  Some of the students themselves are disabled; others have parents who have leprosy, and because of this their chances of education and employment have been reduced.  Without the help of TLM, it is likely that the students that attend Bankura Vocational Training Centre would have no qualifications and would struggle to find employment.  As it is, all of the students are able to find employment when they leave the centre.  The centre has a good reputation and many of the courses have government accreditation.

The centre not only gives students the chance to learn new skills, but also provides counselling and self care work shop s.  These services help to ensure the physical and emotional wellbeing of the students

Bankura VTC is part of the West Bengal Partnership, and will be supported from Scotland for many years to come.
