Real Lives
This year, TLM’s theme is our JUST CAUSE. Below you can read about how we are acting out our commitment to bring healing and justice into the lives of real people, individuals affected by leprosy everyday.
Amina
Amina's leprosy went undiagnosed for a long time. By the time she found out about TLM's Okegbala Hospital in Nigeria she had already lost the feeling in her hands and feet. Hospital medical staff diagnosed her with leprosy and gave her Multi-Drug Therapy (the cure for leprosy).
In addition, they provided Amina with a loan with which she was able to buy five goats. Amina is not only cured of leprosy but has been provided with the means to earn an independent income. By breeding and selling the goats, she is a recognised business woman in her community. Amina's life has been transformed.
The prayers, gifts and time of people in Scotland contributed to Amina's new-found independence and will continue to support more people like her into the future.
